RECORD CROWDS saddled up for

PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars

Record crowds saddled up to watch Australia’s elite equestrians thrill and entertain audiences over two days of competition at the ninth annual Dressage & Jumping with the Stars at Werribee Equestrian Centre on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 November, 2006.

Mother nature turned on spectacular weather for the PSI Australian Young Dressage Horse Championships and young show jumping horse competition. With the event also hosting a World Cup Showjumping Qualifier and the Pacific League World Cup Dressage Final, the stage was set for fierce competition.

Warlord II ridden by Gavin Chester won the World Cup Showjumping Qualifier in which 9 of Australia’s top 10 riders competed whilst Matthew Dowsley riding Cinderella really did have a fairytale event winning the Pryde’s EasiFeed FEI World Cup Pacific League Dressage Final and the chance to represent Australia at the World Cup Final in Las Vegas next year.

Dressage & Jumping With the Stars’ International guests, legendary showjumper Franke Sloothaak (Germany), winner of two Gold medals and one Bronze medal from three separate Olympics on three different horses; and dressage star, Olympic Gold medallist Hubertus Schmidt (Germany) conducted Masterclasses, which were enthusiastically received. 

Sloothaak also judged the Young Showjumping Horse Championships, which was won by 7yo La Laina ridden by Laurie Lever.  For the second year running, Young Dressage Horse Champion of Champions was awarded to 6yo Donner Carina ridden by Judy Dierks and owned by Andrea Beatty.

“The Event has been an outstanding success with tickets sales up over 30% on last year. Tickets for the Indoor program sold out and over at the Show jumping arena the crowds were four people deep when the World Cup Qualifier was held.   Our guest 'stars' were very popular and the two master classes, dressage & showjumping, were certainly highlights of the event. This is such a special event, as much for the spectators as for the riders!” said Event Director, Sue McKay.
