Malta Equestrian Federation RequestI am writing to the EFA in each state in the hope that you might be able to assist.Mr Ronald Gaerty, President of the Malta Equestrian Federation, has notified the Maltese Consulate-General in Victoria that the MEF “is currently trying to identify riders living in other countries and who qualify to ride for the Maltese colours. For this reason we are soliciting your help in trying to identify such athletes living in Australia.... Equestrian sport is very competitive and restrictive in the sense that only some make it to the very top. Many other good riders are left out in the cold. It is this segment we are after. We feel that we can offer such riders the opportunity whilst getting dignified representation in return”. Eligible riders would need to have at least one parent or grandparent who was born in Malta. Malta has broadened its eligibility requirements for overseas sports participants in recent years, with the result being that several Maltese Australians have represented Malta in many recent international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games, the Olympic Games, and the Games of the Small States of Europe. I think you would agree that this represents a wonderful opportunity for Maltese Australians to gain international equestrian experience. I would be grateful if you could pass on this information by any means at your disposal, such as your website, or newsletter. Please ask any interested eligible equestrians to contact me, and I will pass on their details to the Consul-General. If they have any questions my contact details are: Dr Ian Fry Phone: 03 9509 8747 Email: ivfry@alphalink.com.au |
Mastersgames- Extension on Entry DateExtension on Entry Date Because so many people are still just finding out about the Masters Games equestrian events, we asked the Games office and they agreed that we can extend the entry date to read that the closing date for the equestrian (non Carriage Driving) is now 16/1/09. So if you haven't entered you still have time. The Equestrian sections of the Games information can be found on the EFA Victorian website. www.efavic.com.au There are five sections, show horse, dressage combined training showjumping and working horses and there will be a great welcoming party on the night before events start. You can enter every class in any three sections for the one entry fee. Age grouping is 30 to 40. over 40 and up to 50 over 50 and up to 60 and over 60. There are levels to cater for the beginner right through to ex Olympians, so there's no need to be intimidated. There are classes to suit everyone. |
