World Cup Dressage for Young Riders - AUS Rules for 2009

Important message for competitors re new rules for horse inspections at CIC competitions.

In the new FEI eventing regulations effective January 1st, 2009 an "informal" horse inspection (trot up) is now required prior to the dressage phase. To assist riders, organisers, and officials with its implementation given the time constraints normally encountered at one day events, a combined arrival examination and horse inspection will be held for each horse prior to the dressage phase. This will entail the following:

Riders need to present their horses (unmounted) with their appropriate identification documents for an arrival examination (general health check and passport control). Immediately after this examination has been performed each horse will undergo an informal horse inspection. During this inspection the horse will be asked to "trot up" to assess fitness to compete in front of the FEI veterinary delegate (or associate FEI vet delegate) and either a member of the ground jury or an FEI listed judge. As per CCI formats, horses may be required to go to the hold box and then represent, and horses will either be accepted and allowed to compete or not accepted.

As a reminder for CIC competitions, appropriate identification documents are: for CIC*** FEI passport or National Identification document, CIC* and CIC** Equestrian Australia horse registration papers are sufficient. For riders who haven’t competed at CCI’s and done a trot up before please feel free to ask the ground jury, chief steward, TD’s or experienced competitors how to present their horse and particularly to allow it to walk and trot with a free rein.

At Tonimbuk CIC, this examination/inspection will be conducted at the following times:

7:30 – 8:30 am CIC*

11:30 – 12:30 am CIC* (later horses)

12:30 – 1.00 pm CIC** and CIC***

Other event organisers will endeavor to notify competitors of the time and place of this examination either in the event program or more often once dressage times have been allocated. Please contact the appropriate event organisers if you are unsure of the time for this examination/inspection. Please note that this procedure may change slightly depending on the event and may require further modification. Apologies for the late notice for Tonimbuk competitors but we wanted to clarify the information that has already been provided on nominate.com.au with the draw, and as you can appreciate this has taken alot of discussion to try to work out the most rider friendly way to incorporate this new rule.
